The Jacques Thomas Story I was born in France and studied to be an aeronautic engineer. While in the Air Force I was diagnosed with color blindness so I was reassigned to teach skiing. Skiing was my biggest passion so it was an easy career switch. I raced, taught and coached skiing for the next 10 winters and worked as tour operator in the summers in various Mediterranean countries. From 1974 to 1976 I worked for the Look Nevada binding manufacturer as a commercial and technical attaché, covering the Northwestern U.S. territory. From 1976 to 1978 Rossignol retained me to create its worldwide junior racing recruitment program—a program that still operates today. I worked for the Rossignol racing department as technical advisor for the French ski team on the World Cup and during the 1976 Innsbruck Olympics. From 1978 to 1980 I was the coach and manager of the Rossignol professional ski team. During that period the team produced two world pro champions, a world pro slalom champion, and a world pro downhill champion. In the summer of 1980 I took the position of racing manager for Nordica and worked with the men’s U.S. Ski Team. I then settled in Winter Park, started a family, and created Le Feet Lab, opening four different locations in four years. Using my engineering skill, I designed two ski tools used by major ski manufacturers and ski shops called The Edge Sensor and the Bevelmeter. In 1997 I decided to downsize and specialized in what Le Feet Lab was renowned for: custom boot fitting and sales. I also designed my own line of footbeds that are recognized by insurance companies and many local hospitals. I work exclusivity with name brand boots, custom liners. More than 95% of Le Feet Lab boot sales are 100% customized with footbed and custom liners package. I have over 30 years of expertise in the field and have worked with pro football and hockey players, Olympic athletes and skiers. I am able to adapt my footbed, services and techniques for different sports application. Being in Winter Park, I have worked closely with the No. 1 national program for disabled skiers. I am constantly looking for different designs and testing new material for footbeds to improving the product and performance, I continue to consult for boot manufacturers and write article for locals and national footwear magazines. |
